WET COLLODION PORTRAITS FOR AURELIE AND HER FAMILY

THE PROCESS

  • Session took about 2.5h, plates were shot in my studio garden and processed ‘on the spot’ after each shot

  • Shoot It resulted in 3 wet collodion plates on the black painted 4mm glass, 8x10inches in size.

  • Plates were scanned and scans delivered

  • After the photoshoot plates had to be varnished for protection and varnish took a week to dry after which point they were ready to be handed over.

OUTCOMES

With exposures ranging between 3-7 seconds photographing younger children can be a challenge as it requires the sitters to stay still. With patience, imagination and help of Aurelie and her partner we managed to achieve shot without too much movement.
