x Radio Hair Salon King's Cross - 'Onna-Bugeisha'

COLLABORATION WITH RADIO HAIR SALON AT KING’S CROSS

Collaboration with London based Hair Salon & Gallery Radiohair.

THE PROCESS

  • Onna Bugeisha, the name is given collectively to female warriors of Japanese nobility in 19th centyry. Less well known than their male counterparts throughout history, the Onna Bugeisha were trained in the art of combat and fought in battles alongside the samurai.⠀

  • The aim of this project was to produce our own interpretation of 3 Onna Bugeisha; Tomoe Gozen, Hojo Masako and Nakano Takeko.

OUTCOMES

  • We used a 19th-century wet collodion method & captured the interpretations onto 18x24cm glass plates that were scanned & shared on Radiohair channels.

  • Shots were created on location in Radiohair King’s Cross salon.
